ESTATE PLANNING

Estate Planning ensures that your assets are taken care of in the event of your incapacity or following your death.

PLANNING FOR INCAPACITY

Planning for incapacity allows you to designate an agent(s) to act on your behalf should the time come you are unable to act.

ESTATE ADMINISTRATION AND PROBATE

We assist our clients with experienced representation throughout the entire probate and administration process including:

-Opening the estate
-Collecting assets and retitling assets

-Judicial Probate proceedings and hearings
-Establishing legal guardianships designated under a will for minor children
-Evaluating and paying creditors
-Completing all necessary accountings, filings, notices, and documentation
-Reviewing for and completing estate tax and inheritance tax returns
-Distributing assets to heirs

GUARDIANSHIP

When a loved one isn’t able to take care of himself or herself, friends or family members may have to step in to provide care. Sadly, many elderly parents, grandparents and other relatives become unable to live alone, manage their money or take care of their medical treatment and day-to-day needs.

We can help navigate through the often complex and confusing process of obtaining a guardianship.

TRUST ADMINISTRATION

During trust administration the fiduciary, known as a trustee, carries out the provisions contained in the trust. That usually involves several steps, which may be spread over long periods of time depending on the trust terms. Each trust is unique, and the particular requirements contained in your trust will determine how it must be administered and managed.

Tax

We work with our clients, their advisors and accountants to prepare gift tax returns, federal and state trust (fiduciary) income tax returns, and federal and state estate tax returns that are sometimes required as part of the estate and trust planning and administration process.
